IJU ARCHDEACONRY ANGLICAN YOUTH FELLOWSHIP
A SPEECH DELIVERED BY OLOWERE ADEWALE SAMUEL (IJU ARCH. YOUTH PRESIDENT) ON THE OCCASSION OF THE 21ST YOUTH ANNIVERSARY WHICH HOLDS TODAY 8TH DECEMBER, 2018 AT ST. STEPHEN'S ANGLICAN CHURCH IJU, AKURE NORTH LGA.
All glory, honour and adoration be unto God, the beginning and the end, who has spared my life to witness a day like this. It was not by my power, prayer or might but by His grace alone. He has been the initiator, chief planner, supporter and organizer of this program, may His name be praised. I want to sincerely appreciate the effort of our Archdeacon (Ven. T. O. kujero), the Youth Chaplain (Rev Pual Oluwatoba) and all the Archdeaconry Priests for all their tremendous support, advice and prayers towards the success of this program. It is my prayer that your labour of love will never be in vain in Jesus' name. Amen.
My appreciation also goes to our Alumni Chairman (Rev.Femi Owa) and all other Alumni for their full support, financially, spiritually and physically. May you not miss your rewards in Jesus' name. Amen. Moreover, I appreciate all my co-executives, most expecially the Assistant General Secretary (sister Olajuyigbe Tosin) and the Anniversary Planning Committee for their selfless service. May God reward you bountifully in Jesus name. (Amen). My appreciation also goes to all our parents for their financial and physical support. God bless you Sirs and Mas.
I welcome everyone to this august occasion in the name of our Lord Jesus christ. This program was laid in my heart after the office of the Youth President of this Archdeaconry was handed over to me in April 2018.The central purpose for this program are as follows:
1)To let the Youth realise that they have to know their God
2)To build a relationship between the present youth and the past
3) To encouraged the Youth to spend more time in fellowship with the people of God
4)To revive our dying Youth's programs through the testimonies of our past brethren (Alumni)
5) To let the Youth realise that there is fun and joy in serving the Lord.
The theme for this event is "KNOWING YOUR GOD" (DANIEL 11:32).
It is quite obvious that the Youths of this generation seem to have forgotten that there is a living God through some of the youthful lust being practiced by many. The fear and the love of God has been found wanting in the lives of many youths. Love of money, fornication, pride and lots more has been waging war againt the hearts of many; hence taking the place of God in our hearts. Youths are no longer ready to know God through programs laid down by the Youth Fellowship, such as the Sunday Fellowship, Prayer meetings, Vigils and other special programs. I am using this medium to plead with my fellow brothers and sisters that this is the right time when we can all know God better. Therefore let us be wise like Daniel who chose to know his God and did exploits (Daniel11:32). He proposed in his heart not to defile himself with the king's meal and the Lord elevated him in due time (Daniel 1:8-10). Please let us pratice the attributes of Daniel by abstaining from anything that will not make us to know and serve our God at our youthful age. It is my prayer that the grace to do this the Lord will bestow on us in Jesus' name.
I would like to use this medium to plead with all our Alumni; including those within the country and those outside, to encourage us - the young ones - through prayers, advice and financial assistance. Many youths are lagging behind as a result of not having financial support to further their education. Many also need spiritual attention, in which i believe that through your counselling and through sharing your own experiences they will get a way out of their present circumstances.
Moreover, the Youth Forum of this Archdeaconry desires to have a Youth Centre which will consist of office facilities and a computer training centre for secondary school leavers. We also have the intention of providing assistance to the youths that are less privileged (in our community). We believe we can achieve these by the help of God through you, our Fathers and Mothers.
In conclusion, I want us all to always know that none of our labour of love in God's vineyard can ever be in vain. Let us be fully prepared for the second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ by examining ourselves frequently to confirm that we are still in Him. May the Lord count us all worthy of His kingdom on the last day. Amen.
OLOWERE ADEWALE SAMUEL
Iju Arch. Youth President
